Ella Mitchell is a communications producer, writer and director.
With a foundation in storytelling at ABCTV and tertiary qualifications in media and communications, Ella specialises in strategic brand marketing, digital communications, partnerships, and public engagement. Her work is driven by a belief in the power of well-crafted and meaningful storytelling to connect communities, shape culture, and drive change.
She has created and led brand, communications and fundraising campaigns for cultural and purpose-driven institutions, including, Creative Victoria, The Stella Prize, The Ethics Centre, Trawalla Foundation's Pathways to Politics, Monash University’s XYX Lab, Australian Bookseller Association, Iloura VFX and the Alannah and Madeleine Foundation. She brings extensive experience leading communications and creative teams, managing high-impact campaigns and delivering audience-centred strategies informed by data and insights combined with an acute awareness of a shifting zeitgeist.
Work that she has created, co-created and produced have received awards and recognition at: Melbourne Design Awards; Red Zed (Meet the Makers) and Design Institutes of Australia [DIA] 2021 National Design Award for Interact Category (with Monash University’s XYX Lab).
Ella’s career has taken her beyond major Australian cities — working with diverse communities in Central Australia, to China and Japan — giving her a global perspective and a deep understanding of culturally intelligent storytelling and communication design.
Ella partners with graphic designer Connor O’Brien for graphic design-led projects (eg logos, brochures, reports and annual reports) under the name ‘Den Wren.’
